“Liberty and Peace” was born in response to the events that currently burden all of humanity as a cry from the soul. The world yearns for freedom, peace to mend the cracks in our existence. This painting became my dream of freedom on canvas, a moving melody of hope and struggle, a reminder that even in the face of despair, the cries for freedom and peace will never be completely silenced. Vibrant yet emotionally charged oil paints were used to create this painting. The terracotta tones accompany the earth, a desolate desert landscape that reflects the longing for a just world. The whites and greys of the sand echo the chains that bind the arm of one of the women in this story, a stark reminder of the struggles for freedom. Yet amidst the despair, flashes of vibrant colour emerge: the determined gaze of a woman, the unbreakable torch held aloft by the Statue of Liberty partially submerged in the desert, and suddenly in the middle of the stage a hand appears releasing a white dove, the symbol of freedom, the defiant flames and black smoke that lick the red sky above the burning oil rigs. They are flashes of hope that refuse to be extinguished. The relentless desert sun casts long shadows, highlighting the harsh realities of conflict. Yet, a sliver of golden light bathes the Statue of Liberty, a beacon of hope that even in the depths of despair, the ideals of freedom will persevere.

The two women in the foreground become the focal point. One, serene and resolute, embodies the unwavering spirit of peace. The other, bound by chains, represents the ongoing fight for liberty. The partially submerged Statue of Liberty stands tall in the distance, a testament to the enduring ideals of freedom, even when faced with seemingly insurmountable odds. The burning oil towers on the horizon, bathed in an ominous red sky, serve as a stark reminder of the cost of conflict, their flames a stark contrast to the purity of the white dove.

Its focus on the human form perfectly capturing the emotional weight of the scene. Realism is infused throughout, ensuring viewers connect with the raw emotions on display.
