The Sistine Chapel Reproduction – A Case Study in Dedication:

One of my most ambitious projects was bringing the magic of the Vatican into a
private client’s home. But this wasn’t just a simple copy. I traveled to the
Vatican myself, taking personal reference photos inside the Sistine Chapel to
capture the exact tones, shadows, and energy of Michelangelo’s figures.

constructing a couple wooden scaffolding system by hand to safely reach the
upper walls of the client’s large living room. You’ll see the photo I took at
the Vatican, followed by a shot of me standing inside the room with the
original mural, studying it up close.

Using a precise drawing, I mapped out the central section of the Sistine Chapel—the exact series of paintings I chose to
reproduce—directly onto the client’s walls. The video then tracks the progress,
from the first brushstrokes to the stunning final reveal.

Let me be honest about the process: Painting at that height is grueling.
Replicating the round ceiling paintings where the large chandeliers hung was
the ultimate test of endurance—I won’t lie, those gave me the worst neck pain
of my career. But seeing the finished artwork transform the room made every
ache worth it. Reproducing masterpieces requires decades of experience painting
the human figure, and this project is the culmination of everything I’ve
learned.

Process: Having a specific idea in mind will make commissioning a mural much easier. If you
have photos or books related to the topic, they can be great reference
materials. Do the measurements and lighting analysis. I provide a
digital mockup, and upon approval, I execute the painting on-site or in my
studio (for removable canvases).

Timeline: for completion will vary depending on the size, complexity of the details, and
other factors. (typically 2 to 12 weeks).
